In a meeting with sr. Imelda, the President of RENATE (Religious in Europe Networking Against Trafficking and Exploitation) of which the Franciscan Sisters of the Poor have been members for several years, the US Ambassador to the Holy See, expressed the desire to know about a project committed against human trafficking.

Thus, Project Miriam had the honor of receiving a very special visit: the Chargé d’Affaires Patrick D. Connell brought the appreciation and gratitude for our service.

We lived the time he dedicated to us in an atmosphere of simple and profound sharing on the life of the house, the consequences of the covid emergency on the path of the girls with whom we share daily life, their tragedies and their dreams. He met them during the laboratory activities, appreciating their commitment to learning the Italian language, the first step on a path of integration that opens up a new future.

With gratitude we accepted the message left at the end of the visit which confirms our commitment:

I am deeply honored to be able to express our support for you and the incredible work you do.
You change lives. You give hope. With wishes for continued blessings always.

– Patrick D. Connell, Chargé d’Affaires for the U.S. Embassy to the Holy See
